Nick provided unwavering support and commitment to my recovery! I went to Nick because I had an ACL reconstruction surgery in December, 2023 and my goal was to return to playing U22 Junior Elite hockey. I was happy to find out that Nick also has experience playing hockey at a high level and understood what my body needed to maximize my performance for competing in multiple sports. From the beginning of our work he provided guidance, encouragement and a strong rehab plan for how we were going to achieve my primary goal of returning to hockey. I believe Nick’s guidance throughout my recovery was the reason I was able to not only achieve my goal of returning to hockey months before I planned, but also play at a level that allowed me to commit to a USPORT school 11 months after my ACL surgery. Overcoming this injury was the hardest thing I have ever done but I can say without hesitation that I would not be confident in playing sports again without Nick’s expertise. I would refer anybody to him who is looking for a physiotherapist that will help them navigate the physical and emotional process of recovery.

I was walking with a cane. I twisted my knee, completely tearing my ACL, with a 3rd and 4th degree meniscus tear. At 46 years old, I thought I was finished. The Movement created a personalized program, listened attentively to my needs and set realistic, long term goals. Taking the conservative approach (not getting surgery) I was able to meet my goals, get back to the things I love and more. confidence was low. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE MOVEMENT PHYSIO CLINIC. Every one of their clinicians is a master at their trade. They're friendly, supportive, and professional. But most of all, they will create a program specific to your individual recovery. I'm grateful to have worked with such an outstanding physiotherapist .

I recently had the pleasure of working with Nick I could not imagine myself getting back to the sports I love. I believed it was no possible for me to recover to the point I could compete in sports again but Nick was adamant on me achieving this goal.
Since committing to your rehab plan, I can now return to a competitive level and play the sports I love. What Nick provided me to that lead to my success:
1. Committing to working on the basics early on to build the foundation for the mid stages of ACL rehab.
2. Staying consistent through the entire process, especially through the middle where it can get monotonous and the light at the end of the tunnel is small.
3. Coming to the understanding that you need to keep working on the strength around that knee to improve joint tolerance and keep playing sports in the future.

FAQs
What can I expect during ACL rehab
Our ACL rehab programs are individualized, evidence-based, and focus on exercise, education, and empowerment. From the early stages post-injury or surgery through return to sport or full function, we guide you every step of the way with progressive strength training, balance work, neuromuscular re-education, and sport-specific drills.
How long does ACL rehab take?
ACL rehab typically takes 9-12 months for a full return to sport. However, timelines can vary depending on the individual, the type of surgery, and personal goals. We prioritize a safe, gradual return to ensure long-term knee health and performance.
What are the key phases of ACL rehab?
Phase 1 (0-6 weeks): Reduce swelling, restore knee range of motion, and activate muscles.
Phase 2 (6-12 weeks): Build strength, balance, and improve gait mechanics.
Phase 3 (3-6 months): Advanced strength training, plyometrics, and agility.
Phase 4 (6-9 months): Sport-specific training, cutting, and pivoting.
Phase 5 (9-12+ months): Return to sport readiness testing and gradual return to competition.
How do you determine when I’m ready to return to sport?
We use objective criteria including strength tests, hop tests, and movement assessments to ensure you are physically and mentally ready to return safely. Education on injury prevention is also a key part of our process.
