FAQs
Can I continue training while injured?
In most cases, yes—but it depends on the injury. At The Movement Physiotherapy & Performance, we believe in keeping athletes moving whenever possible. Pain during training is often a sign that something needs to be adjusted. This might mean modifying your training load, altering specific movements, or temporarily focusing on other areas of fitness while we help you recover. Our aim is to guide you through rehab without unnecessary time away from your sport, using evidence-based strategies to ensure a safe and effective return to peak performance.
What might training modifications look like during rehab?
Training modifications are highly individual and depend on your sport and specific injury. For example, a runner with knee pain might focus on controlled strength exercises like Bulgarian split squats or step-ups before returning to full mileage. A hockey player with shoulder pain may modify upper body movements to include controlled isometric holds or lower resistance training. At The Movement Physiotherapy & Performance, we prioritize educating our athletes on how to adjust their training in real-time and work closely with coaches when necessary to ensure a seamless transition from rehab to performance.
Why include strength training when I already train regularly for my sport?
Sport-specific training often emphasizes skill development and sport demands, which can sometimes overlook specific areas of strength development necessary for injury recovery and prevention. Our physiotherapy approach includes targeted strength and conditioning to address weaknesses or imbalances that may have contributed to injury. This structured, progressive strength training ensures your body can handle the demands of your sport, reducing the risk of re-injury and enhancing overall performance. Our goal is to build a strong foundation so you can return to your sport confidently and sustainably.
